Friday's Feast #137

Since Friday's Feast is down for the week I found an old one I had not done.

Appetizer
When you travel, which mode of transportation do you prefer?
Tube, train or subway. I find it relaxing and fun since you can do a lot of people watching. That is unless you're in Tokyo right after an earthquake and stranded at a station. I have many strange stories of the three too but I would still consider "rail" my preferred method of transport.

Soup
Have you ever met a blogging friend in person?
No, I haven't. But I don't think I would mind if I did.

Salad
When was the last time you were really, really tired?

Over winter holidays when I drank bad water. All Farmer Ted and I could do was sleep.

Main Course
If you could have dinner with any one fictional character from a book or movie, who would it be?

Hmm...Dory from Finding Nemo. I think it would be extremely entertaining. And if fish don't count then Samantha Baker from Sixteen Candles. I imagine us discussing how hot Jake Ryan is and how embarrassing our families can be.

Dessert
Fill in the blank:
One day, I hope to see _________.

I would love to see my dear friend Delia again and spend an afternoon with a good pot of tea. But at the moment this would require traveling to Manila again or wherever she is at the moment. I can never keep up with her.

Election Etiquette

I'm like Litigious Mind, I don't want to hear about your visits from Aunt Flo. In addition, I also don't want to hear about your candidate of choice, or have you try to "scare me [insert candidate here]." I was taught that voting, like Aunt Flo, is a private affair. I don't have to share with you the nitty gritty details and please spare me yours. I am becoming exhausted by all the Obama support in Boise, all the caucus talk about voting for Obama and being judged for not participating in the caucus. There is nothing wrong with abstaining due to not having made a candidate choice yet. In fact some would argue this is a rational choice. There is just a part of me that seriously wonders how many people in Boise would've attended the caucus had Obama not been here within the last week. And when facing these individuals I find it difficult to bring that into the conversation. I think its a valid observation.

So dear co-workers please stop pestering me about my perceived lack of voting participation. Have some etiquette, respect my privacy when it comes to voting. And understand that I really don't want to hear your candidate opinions. They aren't going to sway a woman as stubborn as I. And I may open up about my candidate choice if or when I come to a conclusion.

But, Enough About Books

This week's BTT:

Okay, even I can’t read ALL the time, so I’m guessing that you folks might voluntarily shut the covers from time to time as well… What else do you do with your leisure to pass the time? Walk the dog? Knit? Run marathons? Construct grandfather clocks? Collect eggshells?

Well, in the spring and summer I'm gardening which reminds me I need to soak my sweet pea seeds before next week. I usually have a diverse garden with several varieties of tomatoes and herbs. I also help Farmer Ted with his two econ classes while watching movies. Last night we began another silly season of Curb Your Enthusiasm--I love that show! We walk our two dogs--Hayek and Keynes frequently. We catch up with friends over the weekends either through basketball or beer or both. Reading has always been our hobby so any other hobby we may have is not standing out at the moment.

Beer gets seatbelt. Child doesn't.

I wish I was making this up. WTF?

Myth of the Rational Voter

The whole primary/caucus Super Tuesday has left me confused. I am glad that this book arrived yesterday. Living in Boise right now and talking to people who attended the Democratic caucus last night I can't help but think that many of them attended due to Obama's visit over the weekend. This has led me to view voters in an irrational light. And so I'll hopefully be reading my way out of confusion and most likely into frustration or utter confusion.

Letter to Obama

Dear Obama,

You're coming to Idaho tomorrow morning. Great! However I would just like you to know that I won't be attending due to a little exam I'm taking, the LSAT. You remember that exam don't you? Well, I have to admit that I'm nervous. For the exam, hell no! For the fact that having you speak two hundred feet away at the same time, with doors opening at 7am and all the snow outside, I'm sure I'll not find parking. If I have to go through security to even park, I will be pissed. And now I have to be there around 7am just to park, which means I'll have to leave my house at 6:30, depending on how much snow we get today. I also want you to know that I can't TiVo you either since that is being reserved for Mormon church President Gordon B. Hinckley's funeral. Let's face it, I don't know the next time I'll be able to view a LDS funeral on tv. I will however forgive you if you come on over and give us all a pep talk, between 8:30 and 1pm. Just think it over for a bit.

Sincerely,
Idaho Gal

Appetizer
What is your favorite kind of cereal?

Captain Crunch although I believe you spell it Captn, but that just doesn't look right.

Soup
When was the last time you purchased something for your home, what was it, and in which room did it go?

Well, we purchased a lot of things due to a very large gift certificate from BBB. New silverware, duvet cover, guest room bedding, steak knives, cutting board, wine glasses -(weird unbreakable ones due to some of our friends), etc. I guess before that it would be our new LCD TV for our bedroom.

Salad
What is the funniest commercial you’ve ever seen?

This one would have to be up there:

Main Course
Make up a name for a company by using a spice and an animal (example: Cinnamon Monkey).

Uh, Turkey Thyme?

Dessert
Fill in the blank: I haven’t ______ since ______.

I haven't read anything decent since September.

I'm craving a really good nonfiction book right now.
